The Percussion Studies program at UT Austin is committed to developing superb musicianship through performance and a deep, fundamental understanding of music and human learning. The flexible, rigorous undergraduate and graduate curricula help students become confident performers, knowledgeable musicians, skillful teachers, and productive individuals who are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in all dimensions of professional life.

Alum Oni Lara Wins Position in the "Pershing's Own" Army Band
Congratulations to Dr. Oni Lara for winning a position in a United States Military Band! Oni will be performing with the "Pershing's Own" Premiere Band in Washington DC. Congrats Oni!
Sophomore Edric Salazar wins spots in the Aspen and Round Top Music Festivals
Congrats to Edric Salazar for sweeping summer festival acceptances! Edric won a posittion at the Round Top Summer Festival in central Texas, as well as a full ride to the highly competitive Aspen Music Festival. Congrats Edric!
Freshman Michael Smith Wins Spot at the Santa Clara Vanguard
Congratulations to Freshman Michael Smith, who will be performing this summer with the Santa Clara Vanguard! This will be his second summer with SCV playing tenors.
DMA Jordan Walsh wins fellowship at SPLICE Seminar
Congratulations to DMA Jordan Walsh, who recently won a fellowship at the SPLICE Electroacoustic Summer Seminar! Jordan will be traveling to Kalamazoo, Michigan this summer to workshop and premiere several new works for solo percussion with live electronics.
Junior John Dawson wins UT Austin Concerto Competition
MASSIVE congratulations to junior John Dawson, who recently won the UT Austin Concerto Competition! John is the first percussionist in the competitions history to win, and will perform the Sejourne Marimba Concerto next season with the UT Symphonic Orchestra.
Freshman Maddie Wallace wins position with the Santa Clara Vangaurd
Congratulations to freshman Maddie Wallace for winning a position with DCI's Santa Clara Vanguard! Maddie will be spending the summer performing in SCV's Front Ensemble.
DMAs Jordan Walsh and Francis Favis Win Fellowships with the Montreal Creative Music Lab
Congratulations to teaching assistants Francis Favis and Jordan Walsh, who recently won fellowships with the Montreal Creative Music Lab! Francis and Jordan will be traveling to Montreal in August of 2020 to workshop and premiere new works for chamber ensemble.
